The Neutrino Sea

We live amidst a stream of subatomic particles called neutrinos. These electrically neutral particles are born in the nuclear reactions of stars, such as our Sun, and as they travel outwards they pass through everything in creation. For a while scientists believed these mysterious minute particles were pure energy and had a rest mass of zero, until they finally discovered otherwise. They found neutrinos travel slower than the speed of light so they couldn’t be pure energy, and then discovered they have mass (one millionth the mass of an electron), so they’re able to carry information.

Cool story, but what does that mean for us? Well, since these über lightweight particles have some mass, and pass through everything in creation… when they pass through a planet transiting by, such as Mars, they exchange a bit of information in the process. Think of this like two cars in a fender bender, they both transfer a bit of paint—the white car leaves a white mark on the black car, and vice versa. They communicate. Once we understand that effect, we see that we’re constantly being impacted on a subatomic level by the neutrinos streaming in.

In short, when these harmless particles pass through us they leave a mark, and we are imprinted with the information they carry. This neutrino imprint is the foundation for the mechanics of Human Design. Type, Strategy, Authority, Defined and Undefined energy centers, Channels, and Gates are all built on the bedrock of the imprints. Just as the elements of the periodic table are the building blocks of nature, neutrinos are the building blocks of the Human Design chart.

In Human Design, we see how these neutrinos activate our Bodygraph (the middle of the Human Design chart) with the qualities of each planet they pass through. These fundamental particles (can’t get any smaller!) activate segments of the Bodygraph called Gates, which correspond to portions of our DNA. When you look at a Human Design chart, you’re not only seeing a representation of the aura or energetic body, but an image of the particular segments of DNA that have been activated by neutrino streams! (insert mind blown emoji here)

Not every planet in the Human Design chart impacts us equally with its neutrinos; the Sun, for example, accounts for about 70% of this energetic imprint. At any given moment the position of the Sun is also sending its neutrinos and thereby activating that area of your chart. Therefore knowing the position of the Sun in its transit is one of the best ways to understand the impact it has on a given day, on your own chart and the world around you. But I digress…

The precise calculation of the Human Design chart is determined by the position of the planets and lunar nodes at two distinct times—the time of birth, and 88 degrees of the solar arc (88-89 days) prior to the time of birth. So the prenatal time (in red) is calculated by going backwards in time from the birth time (in black); this ensures full term and caesarean section babies have the same calculations. These two snapshots in time are used to calculate the position of the planets and how the neutrino stream imprinted the body at birth and in utero. These two imprints, visible in red and in black on a chart, are the basis for how the Bodygraph (the figure in the middle) is colored in. These positions correspond to genetic activations through the I Ching, its 64 Gates and 6 Lines. But that’s a topic for another post…
